Civils & Lintels Re-Brand
The Challenge
Civils & Lintels (C&L) are a Civils, Drainage and Lintel distribution business serving their customers throughout England & Wales from a network of 20 sites. Part of the Grafton GMGB Group, which was purchased by Huws Gray in early 2022, they decided to update their depots and fleet with their new branding which had been designed and agreed some years before.
There was increased demand on Huws Gray incumbent signage & vehicle graphic supplier due to the sheer volume of work in rebranding other businesses within the group, making the lead times unworkable for C&L. They approached Sign Design GB in August 2022 with the request of re-branding all 20 sites & 84 distribution vehicles within a three-month period starting in November as Winter is predominantly their quieter period.
The Solution
Sign Design GB used all its resources to quickly undertake the nationwide site surveys required and a program was formulated by working with all stakeholders in the business to ensure minimal disruption to their operations.
Each site had its own unique variation in requirements such as digitally printed window graphics or wall graphics all of which could be accommodated using our in-house expertise and equipment.
Access issues did not present a problem as these were easily overcome utilising our own MEWP (Mobile Elevated Working Platform) when required.
C&L’s vehicles, which range from Hiab wagons, drop side trucks, curtain sided trailers, tractor units and wagon & drag vehicles presented a challenge due to the age of some of the fleet. When removing old graphics from the drop side panels the paint and some metalwork was also coming away however this was another opportunity for Sign Design GB to offer a solution and we re-clad the drop side panels using red Aluminium composite signage material to ensure brand standards were met.
Due to minimal vehicle downtime being critical to C&L we doubled the manpower at times to ensure that their fleet was off the road the least amount of time possible; the program had to remain extremely fluid due to vehicles occasionally being off road and away at the garage. Some depots did not have enough inside space to apply graphics to a whole vehicle and again through collaborative working practices a solution was always found to ensure that the work could be completed within the time frame given.
The Results
The depots and vehicles were all completed within the agreed time frame with minimum disruption to the day to day running of the business and the external branding of C&L’s fleet and depots now matches the companies updated forward thinking values.
